As a high school student fantasizing about her upcoming college experience, I always knew that studying abroad would be the experience of a lifetime and was an opportunity that I did not want to miss out on. I am very close with my family and friends back home, and Lafayette College is only 20 min from my house (not to mention I get to see my dad and big brother every day.) Taking this step to live on my own in a foreign country for 3.5 months was a huge step and challenge for me, but I couldn’t let the daunting aspect of really striking out on my own prevent me from doing something that in my heart I have wanted to do since high school.
This journey that I have been fantasizing about for months is finally here, and I couldn’t be happier with the fact that I have no idea what is going to happen next. I’m ready to explore London, Europe, and myself. I cannot imagine emailing and facebooking all of my family and friends and keeping them all updated on my great adventure. I created this blog in order to share my daily experiences with my loved ones, and so that they can feel a part of my journey, even though I am across the Atlantic. These next couple of months hold many unknown and wonderful things that I cannot imagine, but as Jack London wrote, “The function of man is to live, not to exist. I shall not waste my days trying to prolong them. I shall use my time.” I will try and live these words as I begin my London Adventure.
